DrPigment® Twin Laser System
Stubborn pigmentation is one of the common problems faced in Singapore, and it comes in a few forms – pigmented lesions (freckles, age spots, melasma etc). Some people may even face re-occurring pigmentation, even after treatments. These are usually caused by ageing, sun damage, genes, hormones, environment, and lack of protective skin care habits e.g.: use of sunshield, resulting in the over-active melanin production.
LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation: a laser is a focused beam of monochromatic light that is capable of targeting a problem area on the skin (eg brown spot, veins or unwanted hair follicle) and destroying just the specific pigment or tissue while sparing the skin around it. Your doctor will assess your skin and problem areas before recommending the best treatment for you. Different lasers are used for different purposes, and we specialise in integrating lasers with different depths and wavelengths to give you the best results.
DrPigment® Twin Laser Pigment Lasers - Signature Pigmentation Treatment
Melanin refers to the natural pigment molecules present in our skin that determines our skin colour – whether we have a fair or dark complexion. It is produced through a multi-step process known as melanogenesis inside cells know as melanocytes. In the human skin, melanogenesis is initiated by exposure to ultraviolet rays, causing the skin to darken. However, the concern arises when melanin is abnormally concentrated in one area, giving rise to what’s commonly known as pigmentation.
It combines 2 clinically-proven laser treatments – the N-Laser & Y-Laser – to help you achieve clear skin & a clean look. It is the culmination of research and development backed by clinical trials. N-Laser first lightens pigmentation on the skin’s surface layer, then the Y-Laser (dual green and yellow light energies) targets pigments in deeper layers of the skin and eliminates the root source of pigmentation within the deep layers of your skin to prevent recurrence.
What is the treatment like?
Prior to starting treatment, a mild anesthetic cream could be applied on the area of the skin to be treated for 10-15 minutes before the laser session. The skin is then cleansed thoroughly to remove makeup and skin debris. Eye goggles are worn and then laser pulses are applied to the areas of the skin to be treated. Treatment can be done 3-4 weekly during treatment phase and 2-3 monthly during maintenance phase.
If your busy schedule does not allow for any post laser downtime, we can adjust use our pigment lasers settings that can gradually lighten your pigmentation over several sessions and yet allow you to pop straight to lunch after treatment. If you prefer a more aggressive treatment over fewer sessions, we can adopt a faster approach which might have some downtime.
The treatment is extremely comfortable and no anesthesia is required. The skin is cleansed thoroughly to remove makeup and skin debris. A thin layer of aqua gel is applied to the skin to improve energy penetration. Eye goggles are worn and then laser pulses are applied to the areas of the skin to be treated. Usually there is only slightly warmth and redness after each treatment although areas of intense pigmentation might develop crusting. Treatment can be done 2-4 weekly during treatment phase and 1-2 monthly during maintenance phase.
How long will it take to see results?
Most common pigmented lesions can be reduced with 3-6 sessions. However, if the pigmentation covers a large area, you may prefer treating it on several stages to avoid unnecessary discomfort.
Who is suitable for this treatment?
N laser and Y laser are suitable for people with almost all skin tones and skin types. However, if you have inflammatory skin conditions, very sensitive and dry skin, epilepsy, light phobia, light sensitivities, open skin wounds, pregnant or breastfeeding, you should consult our doctors first.
To achieve faster and enhanced results, as well to maintain the effects for a longer time, you might wish to try these:

Are there any side effects?
Pigment lasers are not painful, and sensation is akin to the snap of a thin rubber band and you may experience warm sensation during and after the procedure. Any discomfort usually goes away within few hours. Occasionally, if high energy is used to target specific spots, crusting or pinpoint bleeding may occur due to skin reaction during pigment breakdown. Sometimes the pigment may darken before lightening. For those with darker skin tone, temporary hypopigmentation may occur. You should discuss with your doctor whether you might develop such reactions and how to prevent them.
Post Treatment Care
Avoiding strong sunlight and a good sunscreen protection is highly recommended. Treated area should be kept clean but exfoliators or facial scrubs should be avoided for at least 7 days. Post treatment kit will be prescribed to enhance treatment process and provide necessary protection.
